Then August arrives, and for two or three weekends the equation flips. Canyon Street becomes the main attraction, Pioneer Park draws bigger crowds than any pull-off inside the park, and residents plan their Saturdays around town blocks instead of geyser basins.

The anchor weekend: August 7 and 8
The 56th Yellowstone Rod Run is the single event that reorganizes the town every August. The 2026 dates are August 7 and 8, and the run is celebrating 56 years as the longest running annual car show in the Northwest. Headquarters sits at the West Yellowstone Conference Hotel with the parade running down Canyon Street, and the Show and Shine takes over City Park.
