Last Chance to Enjoy Summer in Southwest Montana
With the Summer Season winding down, the next few weeks will mark the last chance to enjoy some of our favorite Southwest Montana activities for the year. Labor Day weekend is the last opportunity for Living History in Virginia City and Nevada City, but there is plenty of history to explore! While our region is best known for the gold rush era, Lewis and Clark made their way across Montana as they searched for the Northwest Passage. There is no better opportunity to follow the footsteps of the Corps of Discovery than on a tour of the Gates of the Mountains, which will run through September 19th. While Lewis and Clark never set foot in one of the most decorated limestone caverns in North America, they are the namesake for Montana’s first and largest state park: Lewis and Clark Caverns. Tours at the Lewis & Clark Caverns, some of the most decorated limestone caverns in North American, will be available through the end of the month.
Helena and Butte offer the opportunity to dive into their local history aboard a historic trolley and tour train. Butte’s trolley tour can be arranged by calling the chamber and Helena’s Last Chance Tour Train will operate through September 15th. While we are enjoying cooler weather, restaurants and breweries across the region continue to operate their outdoor patio space which is the perfect way to gather with friends and enjoy the fresh Montana air!
